Dead Flowers

Well when you're sitting there in your silk upholstered chair
Talkin' to some rich folk that you know
Well I hope you wont see me in my ragged company
Because you know I could never be alone
Take me down little Susie take me down
Yes I know you think you're the queen of the underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flowers by the mail
Send me dead flowers to my wedding
And I wont forget to put roses on your grave
Well when you're sitting back in your rose pink cadilac
Making bets on Kentucky Derby day
I'll be in my basement room with a needle and a spoon
And another girl to take my pain away
Take me down little Susie take me down
Yes I know you think you're the queen of the underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flowers by the mail
Send me dead flowers to my wedding
And I wont forget to put roses on your grave

It's Slipping away the night I mean
I've cracked up till dawn now the sun it hurts my eyes
But I keep on watching it rise
The night here was fun but this night is now done
I'll take all I gave a few times more
It's been a pleasure I'm sure
And so up I go to my bedroom
At the top
And so I go making some time
Yes I'm making the time in case you come my way
I'm slipping away in these conversations
And you're checking me out, I'm fairly sure
It's been a pleasure I'm sure
Recalling events from times fair and fine
I dig my heels, my eyes the see right through
I'd like to do this more with you
And so up I go to my bedroom
At the top
And so I go making some time
Yes I'm making the time in case you come my way

I'm taking my time
Just two weeks and I'm making this mine
And I'm trying to wait patiently
Which don't come easy to me
Expressions of scorn
This vague speech still wired come dawn
These empty hours out on a crawl
Till strangers arms break my falls
In need of escaping
In need of some change
Now don't think it's selfish and don't think it's strange
No more excuses and your talk that confuses
It's business as usual now
And I'm so bemused
With much more I'll be losing my cool
'Cause this trying to wait patiently
Just don't come easy to me
In need of escaping
In need of some change
Now don't think it's selfish and don't think it's strange
No more excuses and your talk that confuses
It's business as usual now
